Insight to Why Phil Mosca Makes Successful Tech Placements

nat rosasco • Nov 02, 2018

We Interviewed Phil Mosca, Subject Matter Expert in Tech Staffing, to Learn His Thoughts and Views on Recruiting in Today's Market

As Elite Technical’s Director, Enterprise Accounts, Phil Mosca works with Program Managers, Project Managers, HR Executives and Technology Leaders to ensure they have the very best technical talent available in today's market. He spends much of his time making sure he understands his clients' business, projects, initiatives, and resource requirements. Phil then leads and helps his team understand all the important details and nuances that will help them identify the right candidates for his clients. Phil's personal drive is a perfect match for Elite Technical's mission: to fill the greatest tech jobs with the most talented people.

Let’s get to know him better:

Most important to Phil “Workwise, it’s making incredible client connections and important placements for the companies and people I work with. By doing a great job, I know the business I bring in will take good care of my co-workers. When people feel happy and secure in their jobs for themselves and their families, they can focus better on the day-to-day tasks. And, that helps us deliver better hires for our clients.

“I also love the variety of working with both Federal and Commercial Enterprise and knowing the people we place have a big impact on our world; for example, we’re helping TSA to secure airports and technology environments. In other sectors, we’re developing and safeguarding technologies and making it possible for clients to serve their own customers more efficiently.”

“That said, my wife and children are my world!”

The coolest work experience Phil recalls was bringing in his first client. “I still feel the same thrill every time I sign with a new company!”

His biggest success? “It all started when I got the opportunity to provide contract employees to Unisys, in 1996, which we developed into a multi-million-dollar account. That led to great outcomes for hiring managers, the engineers we put to work, and everyone involved.”

Scroll down to the end for a representative list of Phil Mosca's clients over the years.

His biggest challenge? “With today’s low unemployment, especially in the government sector, there is big demand for cleared candidates. We must compete strongly to recruit qualified talent from a very small pool. But we do it!

To meet the challenge, “We network, we dig, we advertise on social media and traditional sites. Essentially, we go everywhere! You have to be relentless to find the right talent in this environment. And, we heavily invest in recruiting people with the skills our clients require."

Lessons learned ? “ You need to be true to who you are. It takes integrity to build long-term relationships. Doing what you promise is important to the success and security of everyone involved. To succeed, you also need to be strategic and align your company with those clients you have the capabilities to serve really well.”

What Phil sees on the industry horizon: “I see a huge push to implement AI in the sourcing and recruiting process. Elite Technical is already investing in AI because moving fast today makes a big difference! I also see emerging technologies creating new skill gaps for which we must prepare. Also, companies will continue investing in new technologies and in the people with skills needed to grow their businesses.”

Advice for people wanting to work in technology : “Be passionate about it and willing to adapt by learning new skills, e.g., Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, etc. Learn the technologies that will drive us into the future. Everything in our lives centers around software and security now. No matter what technology direction you choose, whether it is software development, IT Security or Engineering , always be furthering your education and training.”

Phil wants clients and prospects to know: “I care about their challenges, and I will work hard each day to make sure they are satisfied. I believe in honesty and integrity. It’s how I live my life, and that’s what I bring to my customers every day.”

What if he could wave a magic wand and change one thing? “I would save more for my children’s college education,” quips Phil, who is the father of twin high school students. “I’d also develop new technologies that cure diseases and save lives.”

Phil’s favorite leisure activities: “I love working outside my house, landscaping and being outdoors. I put my headphones on while I work and go into my own little world. Then, when I am done, I sit by my pond with my drink. That’s my summer routine, and I love it.”
