Social Responsibility in the Staffing Industry

Caring about people, planet, and enterprise leads to win-win-win

We all want to make an impact in the world on a personal or business level - or both. That’s why it feels good to place many talented technical professionals in great jobs with socially conscious companies.

In fact, working for socially responsible companies is increasingly important to job seekers today. And, we are grateful to place many technical professionals with companies who are committed to curbing global warming and using clean, ecological, and environmentally sensitive technologies.

Elite Technical's Socially Responsible Strategies

Operating Elite Technical with a commitment to social responsibility and sustainability makes good sense. We strive for win-wn-win outcomes for our people, our planet and our enterprise. We govern our business with an eye toward environmental concerns, social equity, and philanthropy - as well as responsibility to clients, candidates, contractors, and colleagues.

For example, Elite Technical maintains an almost paperless environment. Our mainly digital platform enables us to minimize negative environmental impact by reducing physical waste and our carbon footprint. Over the years, we've transitioned to an entirely paperless recruiting system, as well as paperless on-boarding of contractors and employees.

Further, to help replenish environmental resources and reduce the impact of climate change, we contribute to organizations such as One Tree Planted , which supports global reforestation, and 4Ocean , which is dedicated to ending the ocean plastic crisis.

And, our commitment to ethical and inclusive hiring practices, fair-market pricing, and facilitating low-impact technology innovation permeates our work culture and our work itself. For instance, our in-house team developed SubmittalCheck, a proprietary cloud-based, right-to-represent application that ensures integrity in the hiring process.

In addition, Elite Technical's charitable giving campaign — Recruit for Your Cause — supports charities, not-for-profits and socially conscious organizations, while celebrating the achievements of our own amazing recruiters. For example, each time an Elite Technical recruiter places a candidate, our company contributes to a charity chosen by that recruiter.

Staffing Industry Insights and Contributions

A growing trend toward socially responsible business has emerged over the years – with governments worldwide and the United Nations taking up the mantle, as well.

The American Staffing Industry asserts that "ASA is proud to support the Global Principles for Socially Responsible Associations and Nonprofits. These principles are intended to promote sustainable development and good corporate citizenship among the members of the association community. The principles, which are based on universally accepted principles contained in the United Nations Global Compact , help create a network of associations, nonprofit organizations, and industry partners that can exchange ideas and best practices."

Staffing company contributions include establishing "green teams" focused on internal recycling and resource reduction to electronic payrolling, energy audits, community development initiatives, and grant awards, among others.

According to the American Staffing Association , federal and state agencies that oversee environmental and workplace regulations now have formal programs that recognize and reward companies that have taken proactive measures to reduce adverse environmental, health, and safety effects.

And, U.S. federal sentencing guidelines now allow penalties and fines against corporations to be reduced or even eliminated if a company can show it has taken actions to improve its performance.

Three Things Needed to Sustain Environmental, Social and Governance Goals

Balancing business needs with societal and environmental concerns, amid government pressure, is essential.

Conscious corporate governance requires the ability to deliver valued goods and services at a price people and companies can afford — and to develop necessary resources to support business and worker needs, employee morale, health and safety, efficiency, and philanthropy — all while mitigating environmental, societal and business risks.

At the end of the day, the very businesses that provide income and stability for individuals and families the world over will not survive without (1) producing and delivering products people want and need in careful ways; (2) capital to sustain and grow operations in line with goals and industry demands; and (3) rewarding the people who make it all possible – employees, clients, contractors, and investors alike.

Elite Technical's Commitment

At Elite Technical, we are committed to innovations that enable efficient energy, reduce waste and unnecessary resource consumption, lower or safeguard our carbon footprint, and protect our planet. We also commit to responsibly stewarding company decisions and investments that will benefit our customers, our company, and the communities we serve.

As one small woman-owned enterprise, our impact may be small. But, we take our obligation to those we serve seriously. As we move into the future, we expect our sustainability practices will evolve accordingly. We remain committed to learning as we go and doing the right things right.
