Positivity Abounds During COVID-19 Pandemic

Everyday People and Their Courage in Serving is an Inspiration for All
The Coronavirus brought not only a global pandemic, but incredible evidence of the positive difference people and organizations make when we all come together for the greater good.
The Internet is replete with stories of regular people stepping up to help others through this gargantuan challenge. In the midst of crisis, it helps to remember the good stuff.
Our team was inspired by the recent collaboration between Fox
and iHeartMedia
, which
brought The iHeart
Living Room Concert for America
to a mass
audience, while honoring front-line health professionals and first responders. Especially
cool was knowing the concert raised more than $8 Million for:|
— First
Responders Children’s Foundation
, which provides support to first
responder families enduring financial hardship due to the coronavirus outbreak.
This organization also supports,
promotes, and facilitates educational activities and programs created and
operated by law enforcement and firefighting organizations whose purpose is to
benefit children or the community at large: and
— Feeding America , a nationwide network of food banks serving the hungry. While food itself is not scarce in this country, food banks are especially challenged by heightened demand while more people are out of work and food delivery chains are interrupted by diminishing workforce capacity. For example, many local grocers are limiting store hours and/or operating with less staff due to coronavirus transmission, self-quarantines and shelter-in-place recommendations.
Making the Best of a Tough Situation
In challenging times, it’s natural to focus first on the needs of our own families, friends and businesses because that’s where our actions typically make the most difference. During this pandemic, we should focus on the parts that are actually in our control — caring for our families, making good choices for our companies, washing our hands, maintaining social distance, shopping for an elderly friend, thanking a Front-Line worker, and contributing to charity as best we can.
But the needs beyond our individual control remain huge. News headlines remind us hour-by-hour of rising death tolls, sliding stocks, long-term economic woes, and heartbreaking stories. Let’s do what we can to counter the bad news! Rather than live with fear, let’s make a difference today by resolving to stay positive. Let’s remember that our feelings and emotions are in our own control. We can choose how we want to respond and choose to draw on inner strengths, knowledge and fortitude. We can take 100% responsibility for our small part in the solution. And we can work on staying resilient.
The iHeart Living
Room Concert for America
was a welcome distraction in the midst of fear and unexpected
hardship. If you missed it, watch it on YouTube
to make social
isolation a little more palatable. Hosted by Elton John, popular musicians contributed
performances, using personal cell phones, cameras and audio equipment to
maintain social distance.
At Elite Technical, we draw inspiration from the courage and steadfast support of people on the front lines, including thousands of volunteers working in hospitals and clinics; military personnel building supply chain solutions; corporate leaders who contribute a solutions mindset, innovative ideas, products and personnel; our government leaders, and so many others, who pull together during times of crisis to demonstrate the incredible potential of humanity.
The Elite Technical team is pleased to play even a small part by contributing to worthy organizations on the front lines. We’ve just donated to the First Responders Children’s Fund and Feeding America, and added them to our ongoing charitable-giving program, Recruit for Your Cause. In the spirit of giving back, we make a small contribution to a worthy cause each time one of our amazing recruiters places a new candidate in a technical job. It's our way of spreading a little more good in the world.
