This position's primary responsibility is to assemble sophisticated mechanical units, e.g., antennas and switches, where a high degree of accuracy is essential.
Significant Job Duties:
• Assembles machined components, e.g., antennas and switches, according to specifications using hand and power tools such as wrenches and drills.
• Strong soldering skills using soldering irons and resistance tweezers. Must be able to work under a microscope.
• Positions and aligns units using jigs and fixtures.
• Reads and interprets drawings or blueprints or works from verbal instruction to determine material and equipment required and assembly sequences.
• Inspects and measures completed projects with micrometers, calipers, verniers, etc., to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Files and buffs parts to size using files, emery paper and power buffing tools.
• Predicts assembly problems based on previous experiences and suggests possible solutions supervisor.
• Performs other job-related duties in area of responsibility as assigned.
• US Citizen with a clean background.
• Must pass a drug and background check.
• This position requires a high school graduate or equivalent with three to five years experience in precision assembly.
• The incumbent must have the ability to use torches, soldering irons, and must possess a high degree of manual dexterity.
• Strong soldering skills using soldering irons and resistance tweezers.
• Must be able to Solder under a microscope
• Make cable assemblies using semi rigid cables, cable diameter range from 0.047 to 0.390
• Build fixtures to accommodate proper bending for a variety of semi rigid cable configurations
• Experience with drawings, sketches and blueprints to determine material and equipment required and assembly sequences
• Experience with drill presses, etc., to cut material and drill holes according to specifications.
• Inspects and measures completed projects with micrometers, calipers, verniers, etc., to ensure conformance to specifications.
